JARGIS
ELIAS

Coach Jargis Elias
with Jabar Khazal
|
-
Brief
History
Simply put, a coaching mind that did
not stop producing triumphs and stars. He was like a father to his players
through a magnificent way of dealing with his men that he made from nothing to
superstars that stayed for many years.
Jargis Elias, or as he was also known as 'Abu Ghazi', was before his time when
it came to coaching soccer due to his gentle nature and strong personality that
made his players do things they did not know they were capable of with the
soccer ball.
Despite his small posture for the game, he was a giant in his profession due to
great mind and understanding for the game.
He was known for riding his bicycle for miles looking for new raw talent that he
can make into a star, which eventually brought up Iraqi soccer greats like Ali
Kathem, Saad Abdul hameed, Hazem Jasaam, Samir Muhameed Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Thamer
Yousif, Hassani Alwan, Fatah Muhameed, Kathem Laabi, Muqdad Jarjis, and many
more.
He had a great talent for seeing in the future of his player what they can do
before anyone would even give them a chance to. Like when he played a young kid
with the name Ali Kathem despite everyone's wishes in an important game against
Quwa Al-Jawiya, were he scored a magnificent goal and went on to be one of
Iraq's greats ever.
He had absolutely no fear in using any player from the second team to replace a
player from the first team, because he always believed that the first team
players need to be motivated to do better and there will be a time when you will
need a player to replace your superstar.
He believed like any successful coach in fitness, as he did not do with the
regular training sessions for his players, but he always had an extra session or
two a week to give just that extra edge they needed.
