Gewargis Ismail Meoza was well known soccer figure in
Iraq. He started
his soccer career with the Assyrian athletic Club from 1957 - 1959.

were he played from 1959 - 1973. He was selected for the Iraqi National
Team were he maintained a permanent spot from 1959 - 1965 as a center forward.
He
was a fundamental player in the Iraqi National teams as he enforced himself
upon his fans by his unique skills and astonishing offensive abilities.
His
fans enjoyed his goals as much as he enjoyed scoring them, and especially
the winning goal against Syria in the 1966 Pan Arab Championship cup final
in Baghdad were he was lifted for a distance of five miles after the game
from the stadium to his home in Camp El-Gailani
as
his feet did not touch the ground.
He
was known for his fearless,
strongly built, opportunist goal scorer, fast attacking and self confident style of
play.
Gewargis was known to soccer fans as the spearhead hero of the team, and the
surprising figure. In the field he enjoyed goal scoring more than anything else,
and indeed lived the triumphal moment.

Club (2nd Div.) team in 1973. Then from 1982 to 1985 he was assigned as a
coach for the Army Corp. of Engineers team (1st Div.).
